Tricia and Eric – the couple I wrote about in my last blog – took
their “plunge” into marriage on Friday, February 22, 2013. I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to
say that this was certainly one of the most elegant and extravagant affairs
here in San Antonio so far this year.
My
work day began at the Menger hotel at
about 1:30 p.m. With me were two other
videographers. In addition to the crew
from Infinity Video, the photographer for the still pictures, Philip Thomas Photography, was
there as well.
Once we got the location shots out of the way, we began recording the wedding
preparations of Tricia and her bridal party.
Tricia and her bridesmaids were all getting their hair and makeup done
by Madame MakeUp. The atmosphere was one of
relaxed anticipation and great happiness.
After several hours, the time finally came for Tricia to put on her
wedding dress, a beautiful creation designed by PninaTornai at Kleinfelds. The gown had
an elegant corset-style bodice with crystal spaghetti straps. There were lovely crystal applique details on
the front and sides, and it was laced down the back. The fish-tail skirting was done in delicate
lace tiers to the floor, with a slight train in the back. There was a bolero-style jacket done in a
kind of crystal filigree design to match.
Her hair was done up with a crystal comb, to which a long veil was
attached containing scattered crystals and forming a long train. The boutonnieres for the men and the bouquets
for the ladies – including Tricia – were very unique creations of painted metal
formed and twisted into various floral shapes.
Walking in to the SouthwestSchool of Art and Craft Chapel for the wedding was like entering a magical
garden. David Garcia of Statue of Design Wedding andEvent Floral Design had transformed the room! Where the wedding ceremony was to take place,
there were beautiful 12' tall birch branch poles
filled with curly willow and silk cherry blossom branches. A 5
foot x 5 foot "canopy" for the altar had
been created using manzanita branches, silk
cherry blossoms and fresh pink stock flowers.
Up high adorning the wall that formed the backdrop was a beautifully lit
monogram.
Prior to the actual wedding ceremony, there was a cocktail hour during
which guests were entertained by TerryMuska of San Antonio, who is a very talented local guitarist. Hors d'oeuvres of
fried ravioli, mushroom caps, Caprese salad skewers and hearth baked pizzas,
fired to order, were served.
As Tricia and Eric held hands, the ceremony began. They each had written their own vows, and the
Monte Vista Strings octet
played musical selections from Madonna, Elton John, and Lady Gaga during the
ceremony. At the conclusion of the
wedding, everyone moved into a large tent
(from IllusionsRentals ) that had been erected for the sit-down reception dinner.
Once again, David Garcia had created an air of elegance for Tricia
and Eric’s guests. The main table was
adorned with a centerpiece of grape wood branches,
scattered pink cymbidium orchids and hanging votives. The second table centerpieces were assorted
cylinder vases filled with floating orchids and floating candles. Sparkling crystal chandeliers hung from the
ceiling.
Catering for the cocktail hour and dinner was by Chef Mike of Spice Of Life. The main course,
served family-style, included platters of Italian tortellini pasta, chicken picatta, beef medallions in cabernet sauce, white
cheddar and chive mashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables. As a late night
snack, Godiva chocolate milk shakes were served. The happy couple enjoyed a toast with a
bottle of Dom Perignon champagne that they had been saving for 10 years
just for this very special occasion. For
another unique touch, the wedding cake was made utilizing a technology that
made it possible for images of Tricia and Eric to be put onto the icing of the
cake.
Following the dinner, guests moved back into the
chapel, which had been set up for dancing.
The tables in the dance area were beautifully decorated with tall
mercury glass candleholders and floral accents.
A live band, The Grooves
(a cover band from Austin), supplied a variety of music for dancing.
At the end of evening, the bride and groom departed in a carriage
from Yellow Rose Carriages.
The event planner was Tracy Reeder with Ooh La La Couture Events
and Lisa Morales from Haute Weddings
handled the Day of Coordinating. They
did an excellent job of managing all aspects of the day’s events. Nothing was left to chance and every detail
was expertly handled. All of the tables
came from Great Events Rentals;
linens came from Luxe Rentals,
Debbie Fisher. Event Ignition (Frank Burton) took
care of the lighting.
We wrapped up the evening at around 1:00 a.m. The 12-Hour wedding day flew by for us. I can
just imagine how much faster it seemed for the bride, so glad she’ll have the
video to relive the special moments.
